This Friday night the Westwood Patriots open the postseason with a rematch against undefeated Calumet. Westwood (7-2) gave Calumet their closest game back on September 7th; a 14-12 win for the Copper Kings. Calumet has won every other game by at least 22 points. Westwood has not been scored upon since September 14th and enters the contest on a five-game winning streak. The two schools had never played before this season and now will be meeting for the second time in as many months. Calumet won the West PAC Copper Division crown, finishing one game ahead of Westwood. The Copper Kings boast the conference offensive player of the year, running back Travis Ojala, while Westwood touts the conference defensive player of the year, lineman Sam Gilles. Ojala was held to just 13 yards of rushing when the two teams met in the regular season.

2018 NLCS Champs: The Milwaukee Brewers?

The Brewers will win the 2018 National League Championship Series over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Crew has my vote this October. They’re the top seed in the National League playoffs, they’re the hottest team entering the Divisional Series (Nine-game winning streak, 23-8 since August 27th) and they have this year’s National League MVP (seriously, who could win it over Yelich?) on their roster. They’re well-coached, they are loaded with talented, they have a front office committed to giving Craig Counsell the pieces to be successful but the key component they have this year that they’ve been missing: swagger.

This team is good and they know it. The staff knows it, the fans know it. We are seeing passion from the fans and fire from the team that has been lacking in recent years. This team doesn’t just have the talent to win the pennant; they know it too. Milwaukee baseball is in the midst of a culture change, a franchise that has experienced more disappointment than success is starting to become an MLB power. The Brewers have found the formula to be successful not only from April to August but now in October too. And it shows no signs of slowing down.
